Sekiro
It took me 100+ hours & new game+3 to unlock all trophies, but the satisfaction of earning all of them was beyond any other feeling. Honestly, this has to be one of the greatest games I have ever played. It's got a vicious and frustrating learning curve at first but it's immensely rewarding once you get the momentum running.
Sekiro is a game that rewards attention, reflexes and dedication. It’s a great piece of art that describes the Japanese folklore beautifully. The lore runs deep and the storytelling is beyond imagination. There's an intense depth to the mythology and storytelling that I doubt I will ever fully understand, but the way every theme of the game is interconnected is genius, and there were multiple moments where I had a sudden realization about the lore that made me sit back for a few minutes just to comprehend it all. Director Hidetaka Miyazaki has peppered the whole experience with callbacks to previous games (especially Bloodborne), but Sekiro stands on its own as one of the greatest action games of this gaming generation cycle.
Every piece of this game is incredibly thoughtful and intricately planned, and when they all come together in one package to form the game, the result is something truly magnificent. I've never been so engrossed in a video game before, and with the numerous amazing experiences this game has to offer, this might just be my favorite video game of all times.
The “GIT GUD” crowd shouldn’t discourage you from trying Sekiro as this game has a rhythm and systems that make it accessible enough without taking away the sheer joy of surmounting improbable odds. It’s not an easy game, but it sure is rewarding.
Play it with HDR on, if you can and the astounding art direction shines (quite literally) whenever your blade catches the moonlight and it sparkles in the evening. This game is gorgeous and at times utterly gross but truly worth it!
